Brock String Test
Before vision training activities are begun, be sure the student is using both eyes. Use the Brock String Test to determine this. When looking at the bead placed at one foot, the strings should make an (X).
Then when looking at the other bead at three feet, he/she should see the strings form a (V). If the student does not see two strings correctly after flashing and wiggling the string DO NOT DO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING VISION TRAINING ACTIVITIES. This child is suppressing the vision in one eye. Refer the person to a vision specialist who specializes in behavioral optometry.
