Silent Reading Fluency
When we read, we take “mental pictures” of words or word parts and assemble these pictures into phrases and sentences which we then interpret into meaning. The ability to assemble these word pictures sequentially at rates that allow us to read aloud with expression is what is often referred to as fluency. Fluent oral rates associated with vocalized reading are roughly 125 -170 words per minute (wpm), while the ability to read in excess of 300 wpm with good comprehension is required of college students and adults in the workforce. Moving from fluent oral reading to fluent sustained silent reading is a critical milestone for success.

Reading Plus® helps you make this transition by providing intensive visual/perceptual practice which makes reading easier, more rapid and thorough as well as more enjoyable.
